Meet Shawn Brooks
A filmmaker who believes the camera should serve the mission.
Shawn Brooks is a Chicago filmmaker and the Founder and Creative Director of Brookssmedia. He has spent over a decade turning the work of nonprofits, corporations, and institutions into films that change how people feel and what they decide to do.
He started Brookssmedia after years on sets where the story was an afterthought. He believed the camera should serve the mission, not the other way around, and that a film's job is to move a specific person to a specific decision.
Shawn lives in Chicago and films across the city and its suburbs. He is known for a calm, unhurried presence on set, a refusal to manufacture emotion, and a belief that the best stories are the ones people are brave enough to tell honestly.
